The Sallee workshop
First of all I am really glad I went! I had a bunch of fun with some awesome photographers and learned a bunch. You know I think the best thing at this workshop was that JB Sallee let his work speak for itself. He didn't come in with an attitude of any sort (and let me tell you his stuff was the bombdiggity so he totally could have been puffed up), but he just talked to us like friends. He shared his flaws and mistakes and that to me spoke so much. Like I said I had a great time and learned so very useful stuff that I wanted to try out so here goes:
This is an image I took at the lovely Leah's wedding that I wanted to add some texture. Here it is before:
Here it is after some texture

God will repair even the most borken in spirit...
Everyday I watch my Mom and Dad, whipping out my magnifying glass, inspecting their every move. Will today be a good day? Are they getting better? Will they ever be happy again? How can I make it better? I wish I was a superhero like back in my cartoon days. I would thrust out my hand and a magic force field would surround them. Even the best crafted weapon forged against them wouldn't penetrate it. I would swoop down on the darkest of days and pull the sun right over to their house.
I'm not a superhero... but I know one. I can pray and ask for all the strength that a tomorrow can hold and KNOW that he is going to swoop down and be our hero. I love the Lord my God and in him my strength is renewed day by day. I know our joy bells will never ring quite the same, our smiles will never be as big and our eyes will never light as bright as when Mikey was with us, but I trust that the bells will ring, we will smile smiles and truly mean them, and our eyes will have a portion of light that is bright enough for the moment....

Hey Mikey, I came across your picture on my blog today and I tried to scroll past it fast but I couldn't. I had to go back and stare at your eyes.
I remembered when we were kids and you got really bad sick on your birthday and days after I was so afraid you weren't going to make it. We were so little then. I remember waiting until it got dark so we could race to get the most lightening bugs, or the last time we boxed it out and I busted your nose and I started crying lol! That was the last time we did that unless you count when we were older and I would try to take you, but I really didn't even have a chance.
Miss you Mikey and I grieve for all the future memories we could have made.
Love always,
The first M in the M and M Gang

About Me

- Melissa
- Wife, mother, photographer based out of Dayton Ohio. Will travel =)
I believe in love. I cry when I see it’s presence in photographs of people I don’t even know. I believe love can be touched with the eyes as they move across the well told story of a photograph. That’s what I want to do… I want to tell love stories with my photographs.
I know Jesus in my heart and through him I know how to change lives. All the beauty I see is because of the stability and inspiration of my home life. Family is so very important to me. They are what makes me complete, my foundation and my encouragement. It is because of them that I know a great love story while looking through a lens.
